Basically you are mapping a USB device mounted as physicaldrive by the host system (2K/XP/Vista/whatever) as the first or second hard disk in Qemu. First and second hard disk in Qemu are (virtually) PCI devices, and being mapped through the host OS may get them a different geometry from the actual one (i.e.
